A short, honest explanation of who makes this site, where the facts come from and exactly what AI does and doesn’t do here.

What this is

Tonight’s Play is an independent, unofficial fan publication about Xbox Game Pass. Each issue covers one release window: this is Issue 1 · Late Sept 2026, covering Sept 15 – Oct 6, 2026. We review the biggest arrivals, list the full lineup with real scores, and help you decide what to play tonight.

Where the facts come from

  • Scores are only ever real published scores: OpenCritic Top Critic Averages where they exist, otherwise named single-outlet review scores. We never invent or estimate a score.
  • Times, performance and accessibility come from HowLongToBeat, published performance tests and reviews, each linked next to the claim. Where nothing reliable exists we say “Not yet reported”.
  • Dates and tiers come from Xbox Wire and official announcements. Every source is listed on the Sources & credits page.

How AI is used

  • Editorial reviews are AI-assisted. They are drafted with the help of an AI model from the published critic reviews, performance reports and accessibility notes linked on each page, then checked against those sources.
  • AI does not play the games for us, and our editorial reviews don’t claim hands-on playtime. They are sourced syntheses: what the critics, testers and data say, organised into a clear recommendation.
  • The “Play now or wait?” call and the picker’s suggestions are our judgement based on those sources and the games’ real attributes.
  • AI is never used to write player reviews or comments, to generate scores, or to fake quotes.

Player reviews

Player reviews and comments (coming soon) are written by real, signed-in players and are always labelled separately from editorial content. Player scores are never mixed with critic scores. See the community guidelines.

Corrections

Spotted a wrong date, score or claim? Open an issue on the site’s GitHub repository with a link to the source and we’ll fix it.

Independence

Tonight’s Play is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft, Xbox or any publisher. Game art and trailers belong to their publishers and owners and are used for editorial review purposes. Our cover images are cropped only from official Microsoft Store and publisher press-kit art, with our own title and credit on top; no game art is AI-generated. Publishers or rights holders who want an image removed can open an issue on GitHub and we’ll take it down the same day.
