Looking for a permanent solution, she learns his forces are attacking Mount Olympus under Prometheus, out for revenge, and Typhon. She helps the gods beat them, yet they keep coming back. She and Hecate devise a lasting death for Typhon and a way to use that power to end Chronos, with help from a past Zagreus reached through Nyx's mirror. Melinoë prepares a spell: she must kill Chronos in the present while Zagreus kills him in the past using Hades's spear. She wins that fight. Zagreus, however, reasons with him instead. Shown another life in which he was happy beside Melinoë and her kin, Chronos repents, frees the prisoners, and helps restore the Underworld. Melinoë goes back beside Hecate, to the Crossroads, to repair the harm he caused. Afterward, Chronos helps her face alternate versions of himself and Typhon so they cannot rise again. The Fates visit and say they will step back, letting the gods rule themselves while mortals decide their futures themselves. Melinoë then learns Hecate is an alternate Melinoë who killed Chronos, entered his mind to destroy him forever, and was flung to time's beginning. She joined Hades's household so she could train this younger self.
