Battlefield 6 review

Battlefield is back to big 64-player warfare and real destruction. The multiplayer is the reason to play; the campaign is a short, forgettable extra.

Battlefield 6 came out in October 2025, and it joined Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Oct 13, 2026 as part of EA Play. It goes back to what the series is known for: 64-player battles across land, sea and air, four classes, and buildings you can blow apart.

Critics liked it. The OpenCritic Top Critic Average is 83, with 89% recommending it. Game Informer (8.5/10) says it returns to the 64-player limit and the four-class system, and praises the new Escalation mode. ZTGD (9/10, Series X) called it the most technically sound Battlefield launch yet.

The campaign is the weak spot. Game Informer calls it bland and generic, and Metro GameCentral (7/10, PS5) calls it lacklustre, summing up the whole game as refined but unadventurous. Metro also counted nine maps at launch, one of them a remake. Eurogamer (4/5) found the smaller infantry modes too lightweight, and didn’t like how much sliding there is in close fights.

On Xbox it runs very well. Digital Foundry found Series X ran its 60fps balanced mode at 1296p to 1440p, and Series S held very close to 60fps at 864p to 1008p. If you like big team shooters, start with the multiplayer and treat the six-hour campaign as optional.

“Despite some military blunders, Battlefield 6 has successfully turned the tide.”— Game Informer
